“Comparison is the thief of joy”….

The past few weeks have been a big ball of stress, mainly due to unnecessary pressure that I have put on myself with uni work etc… But it got me thinking… I’m not the only one who feels this way, surely? Like, so many people must feel pressured to be the best, constantly competing, living up to unrealistic standards. In a world where people check Instagram, Facebook and Twitter before they’ve even had breakfast in the morning, we are constantly being force-fed other peoples lives. Now, I am all for a selfie, or Instagramming what I’m doing, or eating or whatever, but I’d be lying if I said that these photos have not taken me like 10 different attempts to get the perfect shot, then even more time for editing, filters, a good caption…and really, for what? It’s just a constant pressure to put yourself out there and portray yourself in a certain way. I’m not saying this is wrong. It’s not, and people are totally free to do whatever they wish…I do, I’m more than partial to a few selfies. But please DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BECOME DISILLUSIONED!!! The amount of time you or me spend to find a perfect selfie/filter/whatever, you can almost guarantee that the next person does to. That person you follow on Instagram with 1000000 followers and selfies to put the Kardashian’s to shame, well they probably spend ages perfecting their image, the same as you. Please do not let yourself feel inferior, to anyone. Likes and followers, yes as nice as it is to feel pretty/liked/ and whatever, it doesn’t really matter. You need to feel good about yourself, without validation from anyone else. Whether you’re a boy or a girl, where make-up or go au naturel, have 100 likes on a selfie or just 1 from your Gran, YOU ARE ALL AMAZING. Stop comparing yourself, whether that be in looks, intelligence, money, whatever…you can never be happy as long as you are comparing yourself to another person. Take pride in who you are, with or without Instagram’s ‘Slumber’ filter. 🙂

Be happy. Be confident in yourself. Everyone is gorgeous in their own, unique way.
